Beyond the Degree: SRC Conference Brings Industry Leaders to Klintaps

On Wednesday, 15 April 2026, the Klintaps University College Students' Representative Council (SRC) convened the "Beyond the Degree" Conference at the J.O. Gorleku Lecture Theatre (Gigant Hall) under the theme "Showcasing Culture, Skills, Careers, Entrepreneurship, and Youth Development in Allied Health."
Hosted by the Ndego-Kotey-led SRC administration, the conference brought together institutional leadership, student bodies, and industry voices to address a question that quietly shapes every Klintaps student's decisions: what comes after the degree?
The panel featured Professor Philip Narteh Gorleku, Founder and President of Klintaps; Dr. Maurice Ofoe Gorleku, Vice-President; Mr. Douglas Frimpong-Nnuroh, Registrar; and Hilda B. Tuumyeridam, Head of Finance — alongside Mr. Adam Yakubu, Toxicologist and Lecturer at Klintaps. They were joined by external voices: Issah Ibrahim, Communications Director for the Ghana Youth Federation and CEO of Swift Care Medical Centre; Rashid Ibrahim, Esq., President of NUGS; and H.E. Ahmed Yakubu, President and Chief Spokesperson of the National Health Students' Association of Ghana (NAHSAG).
Discussions ranged from how allied-health graduates can build entrepreneurial practices in Ghana — diagnostic clinics, dietetic consultancies, ophthalmic dispensaries — to how they can navigate professional licensing, employer expectations, and the hidden curriculum of the workplace. The presence of NUGS and NAHSAG leadership grounded the conversations in the realities of student advocacy nationally, not just at Klintaps.

For attendees, the conference reinforced something the institution has been increasingly explicit about: a Klintaps degree is the entry point, not the destination. The networks, mentors, and entrepreneurial framing students walk away with shape what their first ten years in the profession actually look like.
The SRC has indicated that "Beyond the Degree" will return as a recurring annual conference, expanded each year as more alumni come back to address the next cohort.
