Clinical Training
Real hospitals, real communities, real responsibility — three clinical years across Greater Accra and the Eastern Region.

COBES — the community as classroom
Community-based from the second year
Most medicine happens far from teaching hospitals — in homes, markets, clinics and district health centres. COBES (Community-Based Education and Service) is how KSMS builds that truth into the curriculum from the second year.
From Level 200, students are placed in real Ghanaian communities: learning how families make health decisions, how district health systems actually run, and how prevention beats cure. Postings return each year with growing responsibility, ending in a full district placement at Level 500.
By the time a KSMS student begins their final clinical year, the community is not an abstraction — it is where they have already served.

Simulation before the bedside
High-fidelity practice, zero patient risk
Through our formal partnership with the UHAS Clinical Simulation Centre, KSMS students rehearse examinations, procedures and emergencies on high-fidelity simulators — building confidence and competence before they ever reach a real patient. On campus, the clinical skills laboratory carries that practice into every week of the clinical years.
