Professor Philip Narteh Gorleku is an interdisciplinary scientist with a strong interest in health education, especially in training Medical Doctors and Allied Health Professionals. His expertise spans health services management, public health, health promotion, curriculum development, and entrepreneurship. He has extensive experience in teaching, research, and international collaboration with partners across Ukraine, Russia, Norway, the Netherlands, the USA, Ghana, Nigeria, and South Africa.

Early Career in Underserved Ghana
Practised as a Medical Officer in underserved areas of Ghana, where many doctors are reluctant to work. Appointed as Medical Director and lead Medical Officer at Jirapa District Hospital in the Upper West Region for four years. Despite a demanding hospital and administrative schedule, he continued teaching at the Jirapa Nursing and Midwifery Training School.
Founding Head, Dept of Medical Imaging (UCC SMS)
Appointed as the founding Head of the Department of Medical Imaging (Radiology) at the School of Medical Sciences (SMS), University of Cape Coast.
Establishing Imaging at UCC SAHS
Seconded to the School of Allied Health Sciences (SAHS) at UCC, where he established the Department of Imaging Technology & Sonography. Led the development of two pioneering BSc degree programmes in Radiography and Diagnostic Medical Sonography. Served as department head for four years, overseeing the graduation of the first cohort in 2020. Secured funding for medical imaging equipment and accessories valued at over GHS 1,600,000.
Research & Academic Impact
Authored over 74 peer-reviewed scientific publications. Mentored numerous postgraduate and Ph.D. students at the School of Medical Sciences, UCC. Collaborated with research partners across Ukraine, Russia, Norway, the Netherlands, the USA, Ghana, Nigeria, and South Africa.
Founding Klintaps University College
Recognising a significant gap in the training of health professionals in Ghana, Prof. Gorleku established Klintaps University College of Health and Allied Sciences (KCoHAS) with a vision to create a tertiary institution focused solely on training Health and Allied Health Professionals. Today, KCoHAS offers 15 programmes across 9 undergraduate, 4 postgraduate, and 2 diploma pathways.
