Ghana does not simply need more doctors. It needs doctors trained differently: grounded in community from their first year, fluent in the technology reshaping medicine, and formed by senior clinicians who have practised at the highest level.
That is what we have built at KSMS. A six-year MBChB on an integrated, problem-based curriculum, taught in small groups, examined to the standard of the University of Cape Coast, and lived out in the wards of our partner hospitals and the communities they serve. An integrated, problem-based spiral curriculum: the sciences learned through the systems of the body, the community as a classroom from Level 200, and three full clinical years in our partner hospitals.

From how the body works to how it fails
- Defence and infection, disease mechanisms, and the scientific basis of therapeutics — the bridge from science to medicine.
- Neurosciences, endocrine, reproduction and growth, and mind health and behaviour.
- Entrepreneurship and Sustainable Healthcare Systems — doctors who can build and lead, not only treat.
- A supervised research project caps the pre-clinical years.

- First clerkships: General Surgery, Internal Medicine and Psychiatry at partner hospitals across Greater Accra and the Eastern Region.

- One unbroken 36-week clinical block — the longest continuous hospital immersion of the programme.
- Senior clerkships in General Surgery and Internal Medicine, plus Population & Family Medicine and Accident & Emergency.
- A clinical project, then the final professional examinations — and the MBChB of the University of Cape Coast.

WASSCE: aggregate 36 or better in six subjects — the three core subjects at C4 or better, plus three science electives. SSSCE, A-Level, IB/IGCSE and graduate-entry routes are also available. All applicants attend a selection interview.

Is the Klintaps MBChB programme accredited?
Yes. The programme is approved by the Medical and Dental Council of Ghana, accredited by the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (certificate GTEC/PAc/005810), and runs in academic affiliation with the University of Cape Coast, which awards the MBChB degree.
Who awards the MBChB degree?
The University of Cape Coast. KSMS operates in formal academic affiliation with UCC: examinations are moderated by UCC academic staff and the degree certificate is awarded by the University of Cape Coast.
What WASSCE results do I need to study medicine at Klintaps?
An aggregate of 36 or better in six subjects: the three core subjects (Mathematics, English Language, Integrated Science) at C4 or better, plus passes in any three of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Elective Mathematics. All applicants also attend a selection interview.
How long is the MBChB programme?
Six years, from Level 100 to Level 600. The first three years build the medical sciences on an integrated, problem-based curriculum; the final three years are clinical training in our partner hospitals, ending with a 36-week continuous clinical year.
How much does the MBChB cost?
Tuition is USD 8,000 per academic year, payable in Ghana Cedis at the prevailing exchange rate. Instalment plans are available through the admissions office, and qualifying Ghanaian students can access Students Loan Trust Fund support.
