A six-month intensive that prepares you for direct entry into a KCoHAS health-science degree. It is designed for students who have the commitment but not yet the subject background, and it is assessed: you progress to your intended programme on successful completion.
Who the programme is for
Most health-science degrees ask for three science electives. If your SHS electives were outside that set, this programme gives you the Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics grounding those degrees are built on, without repeating a full SHS year.
If your WASSCE or SSSCE grades do not yet meet the entry requirements for the programme you want, this is a structured route to the standard, and a faster one than waiting a full year to resit.
Mature applicants returning to study often have the motivation but a cold academic foundation. Six months of focused science teaching rebuilds it before you commit to a four-year degree.

Six months, taught on the Tema campus. The fee is approximately GHS 5,000. That is considerably less than a full academic year, and it is why the programme is often a faster and cheaper route to a degree than waiting a year to resit WASSCE.
Does completing the programme get me onto a degree?
On successful completion you become eligible to apply for direct entry to your intended KCoHAS programme. Admission remains an admissions decision, as it is for every applicant, and the programme is assessed rather than automatic. What it does is put a strong science foundation behind your application.
Can I take the Pre-University Programme and then study medicine?
The MBChB at the Klintaps School of Medical Sciences is highly competitive and carries a higher entry standard than the allied health degrees, including core subjects at C4 or better and a selection interview. The programme can strengthen your science foundation, but it does not lower the MBChB entry standard. Speak to the admissions team about a realistic route for your results.
Is the Pre-University Programme the same as resitting WASSCE?
No. A resit repeats SHS examinations and typically costs you a full year. The Pre-University Programme is six months of university-level preparation aimed specifically at health-science degrees, so you arrive already familiar with the subjects and the way they are taught at this level.
