Igniting Excellence: A Week of Vibrant Student Life and Collaborative Dialogue at Klintaps

The Medical Laboratory Science Students’ Association (MELSSA) at Klintaps University College, the premier university of excellence, recently concluded its annual celebration, MELSSA Week 2025.

This year’s celebration was an incredible mix of academic insight and social excitement, reinforcing the association’s commitment to both professional growth and community building. The week-long series of events was a testament to the hard work of the student leadership and the vibrant spirit of the Medical Laboratory Science department.

From thought-provoking summits to energetic social gatherings, the week provided something for every student, making it a memorable period for the entire student body.

Beyond the Classroom: “Beyond the Bench” Summit

The week kicked off on Monday, August 18, 2025, with a powerful and inspiring event: the “Beyond the Bench” Summit. Held in the Main Auditorium, this summit was a cornerstone of the week, designed to open students’ minds to the vast possibilities that their degree offers.

With the compelling theme of “From Diagnostics to Diverse Destinies,” the event moved beyond the traditional image of a medical laboratory scientist working solely in a lab.

The summit featured two distinguished guest speakers, Dr. Victor N. Batsa and Mr. Aubin Prince, both of whom are trailblazers in the field. They shared their personal journeys and professional experiences, showing students how their skills in diagnostics, research, and critical analysis can be applied in numerous sectors, including public health, academia, and entrepreneurship.

Their presentations were not just a series of talks; they were a call to action for students to think innovatively and to become agents of change in the healthcare industry and beyond. The vibrant question-and-answer session that followed showed just how much the students valued these new perspectives.

Dr. Victor N. Batsa also emphasized  the various avenues for medical laboratory students after school, and other fields they could pursue in the academic ladder.

The summit successfully inspired students to see their future not as a single, predetermined path but as a wide-open landscape full of diverse opportunities.

A Week of Fun and Connection

While the summit provided the academic foundation for the week, the following days were dedicated to fostering camaraderie and providing much-needed fun.

On Tuesday, August 19, students gathered for the highly anticipated “Battle of the Gonads.” This was not just a fun-named event; it was a spirited academic competition that tested students’ knowledge of complex biological and medical concepts in an exciting, quiz-style format.

The event was filled with friendly rivalries and cheers, proving that learning can be both competitive and highly entertaining.

The momentum continued with the “Rep MELSSA Campus” event on Wednesday, August 20. This day was focused on student engagement and leadership.

It was an opportunity for aspiring leaders to step up and connect with their peers, strengthening the internal bonds of the association. This event highlighted the importance of student representation and community participation, ensuring that the MELSSA leadership remains in tune with the needs and aspirations of its members.

As the week neared its end, students were treated to a relaxing and nostalgic “Movie Night” on Thursday, August 21. The Main Auditorium was transformed into a cozy cinema where students could unwind and enjoy a film together.

The event perfectly captured its tagline: “One Night. One Screen. Endless Memories.” It was a simple yet meaningful way for friends to create lasting memories outside of their busy academic schedules.

The grand finale of MELSSA Week was the “Dye-Namic Splash” on Friday, August 22, at Hotel Buelah. This was the biggest social event of the week, a lively and colorful party that concluded the celebrations on a high note.

The vibrant atmosphere, music, and splash of colors created a carefree environment where students could celebrate their hard work and bond as a collective.

The event was a testament to the association’s ability to balance serious academic pursuits with a well-deserved opportunity for students to relax, socialize, and have fun.

A New Chapter Begins: The Handing Over Ceremony

The end of MELSSA Week was not the end of the story for the association. On September 1, 2025, the Main Auditorium hosted the solemn and significant Handing Over Ceremony.

This event marked a crucial transition, as the outgoing executives officially passed on the mantle of leadership to the new leaders. The ceremony was an emotional moment for many, filled with speeches that reflected on the past year’s achievements and looked ahead to the future.

The incoming executives, inspired by the association’s guiding principle, “Passionate Service. Our Hallmark,” pledged to build on the legacy of their predecessors and steer MELSSA toward new heights.

This ceremony was a powerful reminder of the cyclical nature of leadership and the enduring commitment of the students to their association and their future profession.

The MELSSA Week Celebration 2025 and the subsequent Handing Over Ceremony proved to be a resounding success. They not only provided valuable academic and social experiences for students but also showcased the strength, dedication, and vibrant spirit of the Medical Laboratory Science Students’ Association at Klintaps University College.

Fostering Dialogue: Klintaps College Holds Staff-Student Consultative Meeting

Klintaps College of Health and Allied Sciences demonstrated its commitment to open communication and collaboration by hosting a Staff-Student Consultative Meeting on Wednesday, September 3, 2025.

The event, held at the J.O. Gorleku Lecture Theatre, brought together a large gathering of students and key members of the college’s administration and faculty.

The meeting’s purpose was to create a direct and transparent platform for dialogue between students and staff, addressing a wide range of academic and welfare-related issues.

The meeting provided an invaluable opportunity for students to voice their concerns and offer constructive feedback directly to management. Topics of discussion included academic policies, campus facilities, and student services, allowing for a comprehensive exchange of ideas.

Students raised pertinent questions, which were met with clear and thoughtful responses from the staff and the faculty. This direct line of communication is essential for ensuring that student needs are heard and considered in the college’s decision-making processes.

For the college’s administration, the meeting was a crucial forum for providing updates on new initiatives and clarifying existing policies. It was a chance for staff to better understand the student experience from the students’ perspective.

The open and respectful environment of the consultation strengthened the bond between the two groups, moving beyond a simple student-teacher dynamic to a more collaborative partnership.

Ultimately, the Staff-Student Consultative Meeting was a resounding success, reinforcing the college’s belief that a healthy academic environment is built on mutual respect and continuous engagement.

It underscored the shared goal of both staff and students to work together to enhance the quality of education and the overall campus experience at Klintaps College.
