The J.O. Gorleku Lecture Theatre at Klintaps University College was a hub of inspiration and ambition as it played host to the second edition of the annual Achievers Summit. Held on Friday, September 5, 2025, the summit was a landmark event, brilliantly executed by the Klintaps University College Local NUGS Secretariat in partnership with the Students’ Representative Council (SRC).
Under the theme, “Shaping Future Achievers Through Financial Literacy, Career Guidance, and Confidence,” the event served as a powerful platform designed to equip students with the essential tools needed to thrive both during their academic years and in their professional lives beyond.
The Achievers Summit is more than just a one-day event; it is a testament to a legacy of visionary student leadership. The summit was first conceived and initiated by Prince Isaac Oppong during his tenure as the Local NUGS President.
His goal was to create a sustainable platform that would continuously empower students. This year, the mantle was passed to the new Local NUGS President, Rhoda Ama Twumasi, who, along with her team, successfully organized and elevated the summit to new heights.
The continuation of this legacy speaks volumes about the commitment of Klintaps University College’s student leaders to the long-term success of their peers.

An Opening of Vision and Wisdom by the Chairperson
The summit began promptly at 8:30 AM, with attendees filling the auditorium, their anticipation palpable. The event was gracefully chaired by Mr. Douglas Frimpong-Nnuroh, the distinguished Registrar of Klintaps University College.
His presence underscored the college’s unwavering commitment to student development and the importance placed on such initiatives. In his opening remarks, Mr. Frimpong-Nnuroh welcomed all participants, including students from Klintaps and the various invited institutions, as well as the esteemed speakers.
He set a visionary tone for the day, emphasizing the critical need for students to proactively shape their futures by acquiring practical skills in financial management, seeking robust career guidance, and cultivating unshakeable confidence.
He highlighted how these elements are not just academic add-ons but fundamental components of holistic personal and professional growth, encouraging everyone to fully engage with the rich insights that would be shared throughout the summit.

A Deep Dive into Key Pillars of Success
Following the chairperson’s insightful opening, the program transitioned to the core presentations, focusing on the three strategically chosen pillars of professional success: financial literacy, career guidance, and confidence.
The organizers understood that for students to become true “achievers,” they needed more than just academic knowledge; they required practical skills and a resilient mindset.
The first speaker to take the stage was Hon. Sika John Siameh, the NUGS Secretary for Union Development. He spoke passionately about the role of student unions in fostering a supportive environment that enables personal and professional growth.
He emphasized that being an achiever starts with active participation and making the most of campus opportunities. He challenged students to look beyond the classroom and leverage their associations and networks to build a solid foundation for their future careers.

Following his powerful address, the audience was captivated by Dr. Kwabena Bempah Tandoh, a distinguished figure and former NUGS Director General.
His session on career guidance was particularly impactful. Drawing from his extensive experience in the Ghana Education Service, Dr. Tandoh provided invaluable advice on how to navigate the professional landscape.
He stressed the importance of identifying one’s passion, acquiring practical skills, and being adaptable in a rapidly changing job market. His words resonated with the students, many of whom are just beginning to think about their post-graduation career paths.

The final speaker was George Daniel Horatio, MSc, FCCH, a renowned Investment Advisor and Public Finance Management Advocate. Mr. Horatio’s presentation on financial literacy was a highlight of the summit. He broke down complex financial concepts into simple, actionable steps, teaching students the importance of saving, investing, and budgeting.
He explained that financial confidence is a cornerstone of overall success, empowering individuals to make informed decisions that secure their future. He encouraged students to start building good financial habits early, dispelling the myth that one needs a high income to begin saving and investing.

A Collaborative Effort
One of the most remarkable aspects of the Achievers Summit 2.0 was its collaborative nature. The event was not just for the students of Klintaps University College; it was a gathering that brought together students from various institutions.
Attendees from Regional Maritime University, Narh-Bita College, Heritage University, and Methodist University were present, creating a diverse and dynamic networking environment. The inclusion of students from Senior High Schools around Klagon was also a brilliant move, as it offered these young minds a glimpse into tertiary education and inspired them to set their sights on a brighter future.
The Achievers Summit 2.0 was a resounding success, fulfilling its mission to empower and inspire the next generation of leaders. The event was a powerful reminder that true achievement is a journey that is guided by knowledge, shaped by mentors, and sustained by a strong community.
The legacy of Prince Isaac Oppong’s vision continues to flourish under the leadership of Rhoda Ama Twumasi, and students at Klintaps University College can look forward to more such transformative events in the future.
